918 STRETCHED Summer Academy

Is your child dreaming of becoming a doctor, nurse, or healthcare hero? This summer, let them explore their passion at our hands-on healthcare career camp!

Apply now for the STRETCHED Summer Academy. The three-day camp runs from June 18 through June 20. This opportunity is FREE and for rising 9th through 12th grade students.

Camp hours of operation:

June 18, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
June 19, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
June 20, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
The hours of operation are tentative and may be adjusted by the program facilitators.

Careers in Nuclear Propulsion with the U.S. Navy

On Thursday, April 17, UTulsa students will have the chance to meet with Navy leadership and crew members from the USS Oklahoma for an informal, engaging discussion about careers in the Navy, leadership development, and life aboard ship.

This is a relaxed event with snacks provided, and there will be time for Q&A and one-on-one conversations following the main discussion. It’s a great chance for students to explore career paths they may not have considered—and to connect with officers and enlisted leaders who bring a wide range of real-world experience.

Lunch and Learn: Kevin Sandler

Media Studies, Film Studies, and English & Creative Writing students are invited to a Lunch & Learn with Arizona State University Associate Professor of Film and Media Studies, Kevin Sandler. Co-editor of “Titanic: Anatomy of a Blockbuster” and “Reading the Rabbit: Explorations in Warner Bros. Animation,” Sandler’s research interests contemporary U.S. media business with a focus on censorship and animation.

Poet and Critic Ange Mlinko Reflects on “How Poets Change Form”

Ange Mlinko, whose work appears in the new issue of TU’s Nimrod Literary Journal, will give a talk on “How Poets Change Form.” She is the author of several books of poetry, including Venice, Distant Mandate, and Marvelous Things Overheard, has been the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Randall Jarrell Award for Criticism, and served as Poetry Editor for The Nation. Her essays and reviews appear regularly in The Nation, The London Review of Books, The New York Review of Books, Poetry, and Parnassus. She is currently Professor of English at the University of Florida and lives in Gainesville.

This is a wonderful opportunity for faculty and students to hear one of the best poet-critics in the country reflect on her art. Food will be provided.

Exercise and Sports Science Club Lunch & Learn

Lunch and Learn with EXSS Club, our speaker is Josh Jackson is from Next Level Athletics, a sports performance training facility in Tulsa. Josh works with a variety of athletes to improve speed, agility and strength through group classes, team training and private lessons. Teams such as RSU Men’s soccer, Jenks Women’s basketball, Booker T Men’s soccer and Blitz Soccer academy train with Next Level Athletics.
