Electric vehicles (EVs) are transforming transportation through greater efficiency, reliability and sustainability. However, this transition also introduces new engineering challenges. Special guest speaker Ali Erdemir, NAE (University Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Haliburton Chair in Engineering, J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering, Texas A&M University), will explore the thermal, electrical and tribological issues that affect EV performance and reliability, and share innovative material and engineering solutions shaping the future of durable and efficient electric mobility.

Series: Hulings Distinguished Lecture Series (Est. 2003)
Please join us for the first Hulings Distinguished Lecture Series speaker of the 2025 academic school year!
S. Sundar Manoharan, Ph.D., a renowned educationist, scientist and administrator, obtained his doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the year 1991. After his post-doctoral fellowship at Max Planck Institute, Germany, he served at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur as a professor between 1996 and 2014.
He has more than 120 research publications and 35 patents in a variety of domains, including electronic materials, display technology and biomedical health care devices.
His talk will concern the critical juncture faced by the global energy landscape — an inevitable transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is essential for ensuring long-term sustainability. How can we prepare and plan for this phased transition from fossil to renewable?
A light reception will follow for students and faculty to get a chance to connect with Professor Manoharan.
Please join UTulsa’s College of Engineering & Computer Science as we welcome James E. Hubbard Jr. from Texas A&M University as part of the Hulings Distinguished Lecture Series. Hubbard is a University Distinguished Professor and the Oscar S. Wyatt Jr. ’45 Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering and will give a lecture on “The Music of the Mind: A Modal Approach to Mapping and Understanding the Space-Time Dynamics of Human Cognition.”
