Multiversus of Madness

TU students are invited to play local multiplayer games and make friends along the way. Pizza and drinks will be served. Consoles and games will be set up for all to play, but feel free to bring your own computer or console. Tournament begins at 8 p.m.

Soldering Workshop

If you want to learn to solder (especially for future classes) or just want to improve your skills, sign up for a free soldering workshop. Free pizza will be provided.

David Ridley: Resilient Leadership

The TU community is invited to hear David Ridley, founder of Invesco Real Estate (IRE), discuss Resilient Leadership.

David founded IRE in 1983, and held the positions of CEO and then advisor to IRE for 32 years (1983-2015). Today, IRE is one of the largest and most successful real estate funds management firms in the world, often ranking in the top five or ten firms by managed assets.

Attendees will have two opportunities to hear David’s lecture: 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the ONEOK Auditorium, 219 Helmerich Hall.

Girl Scout Badge Workshop, community outreach/volunteer opportunity

iTU and Women in Cybersecurity are partnering with Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma to host cybersecurity badge workshops for local Girl Scouts. These workshops will be held at TU in Helmerich Hall. Volunteers will help guide the girls through their stations and facilitate some of the workshop sessions. Cybersecurity knowledge is not required to volunteer. Lunch will be provided for volunteers.

Note: The morning session has been canceled, so volunteers are needed only for the afternoon.

HCAR Works-in-Progress seminar with Autumn Brown

The Helmerich Center for American Research (HCAR) is pleased to announce the 2022-23 series of Works-in-Progress seminars. These seminars nurture a community of local and regional scholars by providing opportunities to share creative activity in an academically constructive environment. Each seminar will focus on pre-circulated drafts, followed by a roundtable conversation. Our first seminar of the year will feature:

Autumn Brown, Ph.D., Duane H. King Postdoctoral Fellow at HCAR

Project title: “Luper’s Diamonds: A Pedagogy of Possibility”

Brown’s paper for this seminar is part of her larger dissertation entitled “Organize, Activate, Liberate: Clara Luper and the Quiet Resistance of Radical Pedagogy in Oklahoma City During Civil Rights.” She will focus on a book chapter describing Clara Luper’s experiences working both within segregated schools and during the time of desegregation in Oklahoma City.
