Presentations from the Porch

TU students join the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion celebrates diversity with presentations from the porch every Wednesday at noon.

MLK Parade

TU and Tulsa community join DEI to celebrate the legacy of MLK by walking in the annual parade. This event has been rescheduled to Feb. 17.

Schedule of events:

7:30-9 a.m.- Meet at Union/Load shuttles to 101 Archer
8:30 a.m. – Breakfast/Team-building
9:15-9:30 a.m. – Welcome/Remarks
9:45 a.m. – Beanie handout/Volunteer details
10 a.m. – Walk to Parade start point
11 a.m. – Parade starts
12:30 p.m. – End of parade/Shuttles return to campus
1 p.m. – Student lunch at Reynolds Center/END OF PARADE DAY

Mock Mehndi

TU and Tulsa community join the South Asian Student Association and the Student Activities Board as we host a Mock Mehndi, a fake South Asian wedding, where we share our culture and traditions. There will be free food, performances, henna, bride and groom, and games!

Diversity Speaker Series

TU students join The College of Law Diversity Committee for a special conversation with local attorney James O. (Jim) Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin is a lifelong Tulsan, an accomplished attorney and the owner of Tulsa’s only black-owned newspaper, The Oklahoma Eagle. He is an advocate for the city’s reconstruction of the Greenwood District, for its history both before and after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and for the broader Tulsa community.

Every Campus A Refuge Fall Celebration

TU community join the TU-Afghan Cultural Exchange for every Campus A Refuge (ECAR) an evening to celebrate community and plan for the future. Hear about the work ECAR is doing for the Tulsa refugee community and how to get involved. Includes a catered halal dinner from Afghan Cuisine. Sponsored by the SAB.

TU community join the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to celebrate our differences and similarities with food and music.

Gender and Sexuality Across Cultures

TU students join the Student Alliance for Violence Education (SAVE) for a discussion about gender and sexuality across cultures! Decorate a pride fan while enjoying cookies and learning about other cultures.

Sweaters & SWMM

TU students join the Society of Women Minorities in Medicine for Sweaters and SWMM! Wear and sweater and meet healthcare professionals who will help you gain insight and build your resume and knowledge!

TU students join the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for a facilitated discussion with Kelli McLoud to talk about identity at the DEI house.
