Karen Tilkin, CEO of CAP Tulsa, has built a career spanning international banking, global food manufacturing and nonprofit leadership. Early in her career, she helped launch apple pie production for the first McDonald’s in China, an experience that shaped her understanding of global business and operations.

After 17 years in leadership roles at The Bama Companies across the U.S. and Beijing, Karen transitioned into the nonprofit sector, where she now leads CAP Tulsa, an organization consistently ranked among the best nonprofit workplaces in the country. Under her leadership, CAP Tulsa has been nationally recognized for its workplace culture and impact.

Karen holds a Ph.D. in organizational and community leadership, an MBA, and a degree in economics from Wharton, and has been recognized as one of Oklahoma’s most influential leaders.

The College of Engineering & Computer Science is pleased to host its inaugural dean’s CEO Lecture, featuring Chip McElroy, PE (B.S. ’85), CEO and president of McElroy Manufacturing. Based in Tulsa, McElroy Manufacturing is recognized worldwide for its leadership in pipe fusion technology.
Join us for an engaging conversation on the journey from a technical engineering education to leadership in business, followed by a reception. The discussion will be moderated by Dean Andreas Polycarpou.
