Rafa Vega – Spanish Sports Journalist

Spanish sport journalist, Rafa Vega, will be discussing (via Zoom) Spain’s World Cup Champion teams to Professor Toby Joplin’s sports management class. The class meets 9-9:50 a.m. in Helmerich Hall. Seating will be limited to the first 50 people.

Rafa Vega holds a Ph.D. in journalism, a master’s degree in innovation (specializing in podcasts), and an MBA focused on audiovisual companies. He also completed a summer internship at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford. He has more than 20 years of experience in television, having had the opportunity to report on major news events such as the US elections from Washington, Brexit from London and the Climate Summits in Glasgow, Sharm el-Sheikh and Dubai. He has also presented sports programs and news broadcasts, covering some of the most important events, including the Olympic Games and the Europa League final.

Katy Young Staudt, ZRG Partners

Katy Young Staudt, TU alum and managing director of athletics administration & coaching for ZRG Partners, will be speaking (in person) in Toby Joplin’s Sports Management class on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The class meets 9-9:50 a.m. in Helmerich Hall. Seating will be limited to the first 50 people.

Katy Young Staudt is one of the very top search executives in sports. Ms. Young Staudt is a former member of the board of directors for the NCAA Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Award and is currently on the board of directors for the College Football Assistance Fund and Rising Coaches DEI Alliance. Ms. Young Staudt was recently named top “40 under 40” in Men’s College Basketball by The Athletic, “top 100 most impactful people” in Men’s College Basketball by Silver Waves Media and a “Game Changer” by the SBJ. Ms. Young Staudt regularly speaks at the LEAD1 Athletic Directors Institute, Rising Coaches, NACDA, Women Leaders in College Sports, Learfield Minority Academy, Head Coach Training Center, Minority Coaches Think Tank, the Collegiate Coaching Consortium and Athletic Director University, among many others. Ms. Young Staudt graduated from The University of Tulsa with a degree in business administration. She currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband, Jason Staudt, who is a pro scout for the Golden State Warriors, their son, Hilton, and golden retriever, Sampson.
