Give Greater: 1 Day for TU

What can you do in 1 day?

Support student scholarships, further world-changing research, and advance justice in our community … just to name a few.

Every spring our community unites through Give Greater: 1 Day for TU. On April 6, our goal is to bring together 500 alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends through giving. And the best news – gifts of every size can be doubled thanks to matching gifts from loyal alumni and donors. Save the date and plan to give, share and celebrate TU on April 6, 2021.

Buck Colbert Franklin Memorial Civil Rights Lecture featuring Hannibal B. Johnson, Esq.

Join us virtually as The University of Tulsa College of Law proudly presents the 21st Annual Buck Colbert Franklin Memorial Civil Rights Lecture featuring guest speaker, Hannibal B. Johnson, Esq. as he presents “Affirming America’s Promise” on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Mr. Johnson is an attorney, author and consultant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Arkansas, Mr. Johnson specializes in diversity and inclusion, cultural competence and nonprofit governance. He serves on the federal 400 Years of African-American History Commission and he chairs the education committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission.

The Buck Colbert Franklin Memorial Civil Rights Lecture honors one of the first black attorneys in Tulsa and Oklahoma. In the aftermath of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Franklin served his community and his profession by assisting victims. Working from a tent because his office and home had been destroyed, he represented clients, filed briefs and fought back against the injustice of the massacre and the city’s assault on the Tulsa black community. The lecture also honors the legacy of his son, the distinguished historian John Hope Franklin, who delivered the first lecture in the series.
