Work of Sovereignty Symposium

March 30, 2023-April 1, 2023

Free

Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is partnering with TU’s College of Law to create a three-day symposium that brings together questions about law, identity, history, citizenship and migration.

This three-day conference focuses on the ongoing work of Native sovereignty in Oklahoma. Examining tribal sovereignty from multiple perspectives, including Native leadership, legal issues and ideas, artistic representation and humanities studies, this event considers the complex history of Native authority and the steps needed to maintain and expand that authority.

The event begins with a keynote address from Rebecca Nagle (This Land Podcast) on Thursday, March 30. Professor Amanda Cobb-Greetham will give an address on Friday, March 31. The Honorable Brenda Pipestem will deliver the Hager Endowed Lecture on Saturday, April 1.

This event is free but we do as you register in advance to reserve a spot.
