“Turning Red” Screening & Talkback
September 14, 6:00 pm-9:30 pm
Free
Ahead of this fall’s TU Presidential Lecture Series event with Pixar animator Danielle Feinberg, the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is sponsoring a free screening of her latest film Turning Red for TU students. Feinberg served as the visual effects supervisor for the film and was the first woman in 20 years to hold that role at Pixar. Join us ahead of the screening at 6 p.m. for food, Pixar trivia, snacks, and a costume contest! Winners will receive prizes. Stay after to hear from TU professors in film, psychology, computer science, art, and game design.
About Turning Red: Meilin (voice of Rosalie Chiang) is a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter – an unfortunate reality for the teenager. And as if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda.
