Thuy &: Anh-Thuy Nguyen

February 4, 9:00 am-4:30 pm

Free

Thuy & is a solo exhibition that features multimedia artist Anh-Thuy Nguyen at the Alexandre Hogue Gallery in Phillips Hall. The show includes a series of still photographs, installations, small sculptures and videos that highlight complex relationships and cultural conflicts resulting from the artist’s personal experience of existing between two cultural identities: Vietnamese and American. “Thuy,” a semi-autobiographical character depicted in the exhibition, was inspired by the artist’s yearning for home in Vietnam.

Anh-Thuy graduated from Southern Methodist University with an MFA specializing in photography and video. She also received a BFA in photography from the University of Arizona and a B.A. in economic geography from the University of Social Sciences & Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Anh-Thuy lives and works in Tucson, Arizona, where she is the head of the photography program at Pima Community College.
