The Rhythm of American Politics and the Crisis of the American Party System

The University of Tulsa Department of Political Science is welcoming Paul Rahe to present his lecture, The Rhythm of American Politics and the Crisis of the American Party System. This event is free and open to the public.

Rahe is professor of history at Hillsdale College, where he holds the Charles O. Lee and Louise K. Lee Chair in Western Heritage. He taught previously at Yale University, Cornell University, and The University of Tulsa.

He has written numerous books, including Republics Ancient and Modern: Classical Republicanism and the American Revolution, Against Throne and Altar: Machiavelli and Political Theory under the English Republic, and Soft Despotism, Democracy’s Drift: Montesquieu, Rousseau, Tocqueville and the Modern Prospect.

Rahe received a B.A. in history from Yale University, and a B.A. in litterae humaniores from Oxford University. He received a Ph.D. in history from Yale University.
