Talks on Inclusion

February 18, 4:00 pm-5:30 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)

Join the TU Wesley in a safe and affirming space as we explore the “Clobber Passages” — biblical texts often used to marginalize LGBTQ+ people.

In this series, we’ll approach these passages with a fresh perspective, seeking to reclaim them through inclusive, thoughtful discussion. Together, we’ll challenge harmful interpretations and discover new ways to engage with these scriptures.

1/28 – The Sin of Sodom
2/4 – Leviticus and Deuteronomy
2/11 – New Testament Texts
2/18 – Movie: “The Bible Tells Me So”
2/25 – An Ethic of Inclusion

Our guest teacher, Rev. Sam Powers, is the senior pastor of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. He is an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church and received his Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and his Doctor of Ministry from the Saint Paul School of Theology at Oklahoma City University.
