Open Access Week Kick Off

October 20, 2025, 11:00 am-2:00 pm

Please join McFarlin for this kick-off event in recognition of Open Access Week. We will begin the event with an overview of Open Access publishing and materials. Then there will be a panel discussion that includes McFarlin Dean Jill Krefft, Vice Provost Danielle Mcdonald, and other UTulsa faculty. After a short break, we will stream the official webinar.

Light refreshments and coffee will be provided.

“Who Owns Our Knowledge?” is the theme for this year’s International Open Access Week (Oct. 20-26). The 2025 theme asks a pointed question about the present moment and how, in a time of disruption, communities can reassert control over the knowledge they produce. It also challenges us to reflect on not only who has access to education and research but on how knowledge is created and shared, where it has come from, and whose voices are recognized and valued.
