MLK Day Parade and Community Service

Celebrate the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a parade and community service. Breakfast, transportation and sweatshirts will be provided, as well as lunch and beanies for volunteers. Sponsored by The Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Association of Black Collegians, Chevron Multicultural Resource Center, Student Association, Athletics and Campus Events.
Parade
- 8:30-9:30 a.m. • Student Union
– Campus breakfast and sweatshirt handout
– Opening remarks: Dr. Chris McNeil - 9:45-10 a.m. • Student Union, south parking lot
– Load buses - 10-10:45 a.m. • Student Union, south parking lot
– Depart to downtown parade location. (If necessary, buses will make multiple trips.) - 11 a.m. • North Detroit Avenue & John Hope Franklin Boulevard
– Tulsa parade begins - 12-12:30 p.m.
– Buses return to campus
Community service
- 12:45-1:45 p.m. • Student Union, Alcove
– Volunteer lunch
– Beanie hats for the first 50 volunteers - 1:45-2 p.m. • Student Union, south parking lot
– Load buses and depart to service sites - 2:15-4:15 p.m.
– Community service - 4:30 p.m.
– Buses return to campus
