Lunar New Year Festival
January 20, 6:00 pm-8:30 pm
Free
Lunar New Year is one of the most important celebrations in Asian culture. It has an estimated 3,500 years of history that originates from celebrating a good harvesting season, worshiping gods and asking for more substantial harvests in the future. This year, most countries who celebrate this holiday are celebrating the Year of the Rabbit, whereas Vietnam is celebrating the Year of the Cat. To celebrate this event, we will be providing food from various caterers (vegetarian and vegan options available), hosting a boba fundraiser, showcasing dances and performances and holding raffles between performances. Attendees will also enjoy games and activities such as DIY red envelopes and lanterns. For the last performance, there will be a lion dance performed by the Hung Viet Lion Dance Association from Oklahoma City. This event is free and open to the public.
