Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and the Future of Capitalism

October 10, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm

Free

The Tulsa community is invited to join The University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business to host a free public talk by Matthew King, founder and CEO of Our COMMON Foundation, on “Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and the Future of Capitalism.”

King is a bold writer, creative adviser, and fearless explorer who has traveled and immersed himself in diverse cultures in over 45 countries. He started from humble beginnings in west Tulsa and went on to attend The University of Tulsa and Cambridge University. As a pioneering leader, King has dedicated his career to advising social and environmental entrepreneurs, artists, and conservationists who strive to make a positive social and environmental impact. His work has influenced governments, businesses, and thought leaders across the globe.

This engaging TED-style talk will delve into capitalism’s historical roots, current challenges, and innovative models shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future. He’ll explore the critical need for capitalism to evolve in the face of modern challenges, including economic inequality, social injustices, and environmental degradation. From King’s extensive global experience, he will demonstrate that personal and collective empowerment must be at the heart of capitalism’s future.

Attendees will gain insights into how we can transform capitalism better to serve society, the environment, and future generations. An open discussion, Q&A, and reception will follow King’s talk.

“Capitalism’s future hinges on its ability to empower others for the benefit of people, the planet, and peace,” said King. “We’re at a crossroads. Some people think we should ditch capitalism. Instead, we must ask: How can capitalism evolve to serve people, the planet, and peace?”

This event is hosted by the Collins College of Business, Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, JOLT, Honors College, and Oklahoma Center for the Humanities.

This event is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend. Whether you are a student, business leader, academic, or community member, this talk will challenge your perspectives and inspire you to take action.
