Graphic Design Activism with Mirko Ilić

The Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is welcoming renown graphic designer and curator of “The Tolerance Poster Show,” Mirko Ilić.

Ilić will give an encompassing lecture, detailing his many samples of pro-bono work for different organizations and why he decided to create The Tolerance Project.

Originally from Bosnia, he is currently based in New York City and works as a graphic designer and illustrator. When he arrived in the U.S. he became the art director of Time Magazine International Edition. Later he became art director of the Op-Ed pages of the New York Times. In 1995 he established his firm Mirko Ilić Corp. His company designs for a wide range of clients, from pro bono organizations to luxury hospitality clients. He has received numerous awards for his work and is in collections of institutions such as Smithsonian Museum and the MoMA in New York.

Since 2017, Ilić is the creator and organizer of The Tolerance Traveling Poster Show, an international exhibition that brings together leading designers from around the world to create posters on the topic of tolerance. Past participating designers have included Milton Glaser, Paula Scher, Ralph Steadman, David Hillman, and Gunter Rambow among others. To date, the show was exhibited more than 175 times in 47 different countries.
