Frederick Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon

February 14, 10:00 am-2:00 pm

Free

McFarlin Library will be hosting an in-person Douglass Day event this year on February 14th from 10am to 2pm in the Library’s newly renovated Learning Studio. The event will begin at 10 including a 20-minute presentation about the Eddie Faye Gates Collection at HCAR, followed by the Douglass Day live streamed presentations, transcribe-a-thon and birthday cake from 11-2. This year, we will be working with historical documents from the African American Perspectives Collection at the Library of Congress.

You do not need previous experience with transcription to participate. Transcription coaches will be present to assist participants. Also, attendees are encouraged to drop-in at any time, and leave whenever they need to. You do not have to stay for the entire event time to participate.

Please bring your own laptop if possible.
