The Texas Rangers: 200 Years of Heroism, Brutality, Glory and Scandal

November 11, 2022, 5:30 pm-7:00 pm

Free

The Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is pleased to welcome Doug Swanson, author of Cult of Glory: The Bold and Brutal History of the Texas Rangers, for a thought-provoking discussion at the Zarrow Center in downtown Tulsa. A reception will follow Swanson’s talk.

The Texas Rangers, one of the most famous law enforcement agencies in the world, will celebrate their 200th birthday next year. The Rangers have long been admired for their bravery, heroism and application of frontier justice. But the “Tales of the Texas Rangers,” as Hollywood liked to put it, also have a dark side that often has been overlooked or twisted into false myth.
