Deadline: A Call to Artists
October 15, 2021
The Gilcrease Junior Board is planning an exhibition this fall and we want YOU to be included. TU students, faculty and staff are invited to submit work in any medium responding to the theme “Home.” Whether you take photos, make paintings, sculptures, poetry or music – and regardless of your major or role in the TU community – we want to know what “home” means to you. This can be something you’ve created for classes, something you make with a friend and/or anything you want to create specifically for this show! We welcome and encourage collaborative projects. Themes related to “Home” can include, but are not limited to:
- Portraits (family, friends, community, etc.)
- Landscapes and cityscapes (environment, houses, etc.)
- Traditions (food, celebrations, etc.)
- Comfort (love, poetry, people, etc.)
Selected works will be part of an exhibition that includes reproductions of works from the Gilcrease Museum collection. Put in dialogue with student work, this event will invite the TU community to come together to think about what “home” means and how we can celebrate TU as a home away from home.
Works will be evaluated and selected for exhibition by the Gilcrease Junior Board and a representative from Gilcrease Museum. Three prizes will be awarded for best in show. This will be a great opportunity to express yourself, to share your work and to receive feedback from a museum professional.
Submit up to three entries by Oct. 15 by emailing photos of your work to firstname.lastname@example.org. With each submission, please include a description of what “Home” means to you and how you communicate it through your entry (less than 200 words).
