Cyber Fellows Speaker Series – Sean Alexander

TU Cyber Fellows are invited to engage with Business and Technology Advisor Sean Alexander. Mr. Alexander’s talk is titled “Leadership in a time of Digital Disruption.”

Sean Alexander is a second-generation TU graduate and while an undergrad founded the first interdisciplinary tech incubator at TU. This work led to 25-years of experience at Microsoft, where he co-authored Microsoft’s Applied AI strategy and led the first partnership with OpenAI. Over his career, he helped found and scale new businesses in Developer Tools, Windows, Xbox, Azure AI, and Industry Clouds. A graduate of Northwestern and Microsoft’s accelerated leadership program and MIT’s Executive program in AI, Sean has also received multiple patents, and a technical Emmy® Award for his work. A prior TU Trustee, today Sean serves on various Boards, and as a strategy consultant and public speaker on topics including AI, digital disruption, and transformation. Three years ago, he returned to Tulsa from Seattle with his wife, their two sons, and two golden retrievers.

Sean will discuss the topic “Leadership in a time of Digital Disruption.” In the age of AI, cyber professionals face unprecedented challenges and opportunities to lead their organizations through transformational change. How can they leverage their technical expertise, strategic vision, and interdisciplinary skills to navigate the complex and dynamic landscape of digital disruption? In this talk, we’ll explore key trends, and what are the key competencies and behaviors that distinguish effective and agile leaders in this context, drawing from Microsoft’s own mission to embrace continuous transformation. This talk will explore these questions and provide practical insights and examples from various industries and sectors designed to equip cyber professionals with the tools and mindsets they need to lead in the digital age.
