Cyber Fellows Speaker Series – Dan Gunter

April 25, 10:00 am-11:30 am

TU Cyber Fellows are invited to engage with Dan Gunter, CEO and founder of Insane Cyber.

Dan Gunter is the founder and CEO of Insane Cyber, a threat hunting-focused company that helps organizations protect against the threats of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Before Insane Forensics, Dan served as director, research and development for Dragos Inc, an industrial control system cybersecurity firm. He established and oversaw detection engineering and reverse engineering efforts focused on protecting oil and gas, energy, and other critical infrastructure sites. As an early employee at Dragos, he also served as one of the original principal threat analysts working with oil and gas and energy companies to expand cybersecurity capabilities. Before Dragos, Dan was an officer in the United States Air Force serving in assignments, including the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT) and operational CYBERCOM teams. Dan was competitively selected for and graduated from the Department of Defense’s elite Computer Network Operations Development Program and the Air Force Research Lab’s Advanced Course in Engineering Cyber Security Bootcamp. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Baylor University, a Master of Science in computer science from the University of Louisville, and a graduate certificate in incident response from SANS Technology Institute. Dan is also a graduate of MIT Bootcamp’s Innovation Leadership program and pitched on the winning new venture team.

In the community, Dan has spoken at Blackhat, Schmoocon, S4, CS3STHLM and taught at a variety of smaller and private events on the topics of incident response, threat hunting, consequence analysis, and general security operations.

The Cyber Fellows Speaker Series is open to Cyber Fellows, related faculty, and our external partners. The speaker series is an opportunity for Cyber Fellows to have deep conversations with cyber industry professionals, venture capitalists, founders, and entrepreneurs.
