Basics of Cooking

Join TU staff member Candice Chinsethagid for a quick tutorial on how to make some hamburger meat basics: spaghetti sauce, chili and tacos. You can make one, two or all three during this session. You’ll need a bit of vegetable oil for each recipe. For the hamburger meat, Candice recommends at least a 93% lean selection.
Ingredient list below and full recipes offered at the event:
Chili
1 lb. ground beef
½ onion, diced
3 tsp of minced garlic
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of red kidney beans
1 packet of chili seasoning
Salt
Pepper
Chili condiments of your liking (jalapeños, cheese, crackers, Fritos, etc.)
Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb. ground beef
½ onion diced
3 tsp of minced garlic
1 can of tomato sauce (15 oz)
1 can of diced tomatoes (15 oz)
1 can a tomato paste (6 oz)
1 TBS. Italian seasoning
Salt
Pepper
Spaghetti (cook as directed)
Parmesan
Taco Meat
1 lb. ground beef
½ onion, diced
2 tsp of garlic
1 packet taco seasoning mix
Salt
Pepper
Taco shells/tortillas
Taco condiments of your liking (sour cream, salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, etc.)
