All-Black Towns of Oklahoma Symposium
February 18 @ 9:30 am-3:00 pm
Free
In the early 1900s, there were as many as 50 all-black towns in Oklahoma. Over the course of the century, the number and sizes of these towns shrank drastically. Only 13 of the original 50 exist today. Now, the Oklahoma Center for the Humanities is bringing together state and town leaders to discuss possible futures for the remaining All-Black Towns of Oklahoma.
Keynote address by Karla Slocum. Panelists include Mayor Keisha Currin of Tullahassee, Q Lansana, Hannibal Johnson, Eli Grayson and State Senator Kevin Matthews.
