Art Werger, professor of printmaking from Ohio University, has received more than 250 awards in national and international exhibitions. His prints are masterful at capturing a mood and suggesting a story for the viewer to complete. They show a keen observation of quiet and normally unnoticed moments.
The work presented in Tidal Shift spans a 30-year period. Over that time, the artist has returned to the theme of the human figure in an aquatic environment. The earlier work focuses on light filtering through water to reveal the human form while more recent work explores the theme of an ocean beach where nature’s greatest gifts and threats coincide.
