Before the turn of the century (the 18th century that is), British composer Henry Purcell was born, lived, composed and died — all in just over 30 years. While well known as a distinctly British composer, Purcell brought on a French and Italian style to his operas; composing them in English, for an English audience. This concert will feature his opera excerpts (including his famous 'Dido's Lament') and his Abdelazer Suite for strings.
TU vocal students Hope Bradford, Wyatt Cobb, Jericho Stratton and Marjorie Sheaf will perform the arias along with the Student Chamber Orchestra. Senior composition student Joshua Lowery and TU alum Megan Kepley will conduct the orchestra.
The concert is free and open to the public.
